Father Mina Abboud was born in Aswan on Dec. 14, 1974, under the name Salib Abboud Sharobeem. He has two younger brothers, John and Mina. During his childhood, Salib and his father were involved in a car accident, in which his father passed away, while Salib survived unscathed.

After the death of his father, his mother took on the responsibility of raising him. She instilled in him a love for the church and a strong attachment to it, as she had close ties with the church and worked in the Ministry of Education. He began his preliminary studies in Aswan and obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He resided in one of the dormitories in Cairo at Ain Shams University and worked at a ceramics company before moving on to work as an accountant at a school.

Father Mina was fond of hymns and was renowned for his resonant, angelic voice, which greatly influenced his spiritual life. He belonged to the Church of the Virgin Mary in Al-Amiriya, where his distinctive voice set him apart from his peers. He founded a deacons' choir named after Saint Stephen and, due to his deep love for service, established a school affiliated with the church in 2006 to teach Coptic hymns and rituals. This school continues to operate under the management of several of his disciples. He married one of the church servants, and they had two daughters, the first named Farin and the second Justina, in addition to his mother and brothers.

He joined the service at the Church of the Virgin Mary in Al-Amiriya, where he founded a school for deacons and hymn instruction, and was notably active in the Youth Diocese. Bishop Moussa, the Bishop of Youth, appointed him as a member of the central committee for the Evangelism Festival at the level of the Coptic Orthodox Church. He was nominated for priesthood at the Al-Amiriya Church, and Bishop Kyrillos, Abba Mina, the head of the Monastery of Saint Mina in Mariout, and Bishop Qozman, the Bishop of North Sinai, ordained him as a priest on March 3, 2012, to serve at the Church of Saint Mina in Masaeed, Arish. He also served as the secretary to Bishop Qozman alongside his priestly duties.

On the morning of July 6, 2013, after completing the Divine Liturgy, a group of masked assailants shot Father Mina Abboud, killing him instantly in front of the church's service building after they tried to force him to deny Christ and he refused.

نشأته وتعليمه

كان والده مهندسًا، وقد توفي في حادث أليم مع م. فايز غطاس ورجل مسن (عم وهيب).

تعلَّم الألحان في كنيسة العذراء بأسوان.

انتقل لمحافظة القاهرة عام 1994 م. للدراسة في كلية التجارة بجامعة عين شمس (بعد التحويل من تجارة سوهاج).

حياته الأسرية

تزوَّج تاسوني مريم ميلاد إسكندر بعد تخرّجه يوم 15 يناير 2000 م. بصلاة الأنبا هدرا مطران أسوان.

خدمته الكنسية

قام بإعداد كتاب بعنوان "طقوس وألحان الأصوام الكنسية والأعياد السيدية بحسب ترتيب كنيستنا القبطية الأرثوذكسية"، مع الشماس أمير فكري. وبدأ في تنفيذ مدرسة للألحان على مستوى المراحل المختلفة بكنيسة العذراء بالأميرية.

كما خدم في أماكن مختلفة، منها كنيسة العذراء بمسطرد، ولجنة الألحان الخاصة بمهرجان الكرازة.

عرض عليه الأنبا قزمان أسقف سيناء الشمالية الخدمة في العريش.

استشهاده

استشهد يوم 6 يوليو 2013 م. بعد أن استوقفته مجموعة من الإرهابيين (إسلاميين متطرفين) وأطلقوا عليه النيران.

تم نقل جثمانه بطائرة عسكرية من المستشفى العسكري بالعريش إلى مستشفى هليوبوليس بالقاهرة يوم 7 يوليو 2013 م.

أُقيمت صلوات الجناز بكنيسة رئيس الملائكة ميخائيل بشيراتون يوم الاثنين 8 يوليو 2013 م. بحضور الأحبار الأجلاء أصحاب النيافة: الأنبا قزمان أسقف سيناء الشمالية، الأنبا موسى الأسقف العام، الأنبا رافائيل الأسقف العام، الأنبا مكسيموس أسقف بنها، وعدد كبير من الآباء الكهنة. كما حضر عدد من المسؤولين في الدولة، منهم محافظ سيناء، ووزير السياحة الأستاذ هشام زعزوع، والسفير علي جوهر السفير الفلسطيني للنوايا الحسنة بالقاهرة.

تكريمه بعد استشهاده

بعد دفن جثمانه الطاهر، تم إضافة اسمه إلى اسم كنيسة القديس مار لوقا الطبيب القبطية الأرثوذكسية، مصر القديمة، القاهرة، فأصبح اسمها: "كنيسة مارلوقا والشهيد القس مينا عبود بمصر القديمة".
